About the Role: Middle School History Teacher

As a Middle School History Teacher , you will be part of a dynamic team that empowers students to become self-guided learners. You will develop subject mastery while navigating the socio-emotional changes that middle school students experience. Your history classes will not only teach facts but will also empower students' voices and cultivate global citizens through:

  • Engaging Instruction: Facilitate student-led discussions, guiding them through open-ended questions and peer debates.
  • Curriculum Development: Teach a curriculum that highlights the diverse histories of Indigenous peoples, African Americans, women, and ancient cultures.
  • Inclusive Environment: Create a safe space where students feel empowered to express their evidence-based opinions.
Your Responsibilities

1. Instruction

  • Facilitate engaging discussions on historical topics.
  • Guide students in understanding authors' claims and developing skills in argumentation and analysis.
  • Teach a curriculum that prioritizes diverse histories.
  • Build an inclusive environment for student expression.

2. Data Analysis

  • Collaborate weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze student work and assessments.
  • Implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners.

3. School Culture

  • Build positive relationships with students and their families.
  • Engage in professional development and mentorship.
  • Participate in school-wide meetings to foster community and model core values.
  • Collaborate with your grade level team to set academic goals.
Qualifications
  • A commitment to supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • A passion for collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • A self-directed learner who seeks and implements feedback.
  • Required Experience:
    • 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban settings preferred.
    • Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, or related fields.
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Certification is not mandatory at hiring but must be pursued if not already certified.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 , based on factors such as relevant teaching experience and education certifications.
