The Housing Authority of the City of Bradenton, FL (HACB ) seeks an experienced, mission-driven Interim Executive Director to provide strong, hands-on leadership during a six-month transitional period , with the potential to transition into a permanent appointment. This role requires an accomplished professional with a proven background in public housing agency management and comprehensive knowledge of HUD regulations, policies, and procedures governing Low-rent Public Housing, Section Eight Housing Choice Voucher, Section Eight Project-Based Housing and Section Eight Project Based Rental Assistance Housing . This is a highly engaged, operational leadership position —ideal for an individual who thrives in a small-team environment and is prepared to oversee both strategic direction and daily operations. The Interim Executive Director will lead a lean staff with a focus on stabilizing operations, building organizational capacity, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local requirements. Key Requirements and Responsibilities : Hire and onboard a minimum of four essential staff members within the first 45 days to ensure the agency’s operational readiness. Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and performance oversight for all staff. Assess current systems and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Serve as the primary liaison with HUD, the Board of Commissioners, and other oversight entities. Maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders and partner agencies. Ideal Candidate Profile : Demonstrated leadership in HUD-funded housing environments, with the ability to manage both compliance and operations. Successful track record of building and strengthening small teams under tight deadlines. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to act decisively in time-sensitive situations. Commitment to housing equity, public service, and resident-focused outcomes. The Interim Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Commissioners and will be expected to deliver both stability and measurable progress within the six-month term.
