    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure machinery is operated according to safety procedures.

    • Demonstrate flexibility and a collaborative attitude to maintain workflow and project efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Team
    • Communicate with site managers, ground crew, and other operators to ensure smooth workflow and avoid overlapping tasks.
    • Provide feedback on soil conditions, project challenges, or resource needs.
      • Maintain stable trench walls and proper slope grades to minimize risks.

Qualifications

  • Experience
    • At least 23 years operating excavators or similar heavy machinery, with pipe experience strongly preferred.
  • Skills & Knowledge
    • Familiarity with soil types, grade reading, and mass earthmoving techniques.
    • Ability to follow safety guidelines meticulously and operate machinery in close proximity to personnel and other equipment.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude to spot equipment issues or perform minor on-site fixes.
    • Willingness to get off the machine and perform other labor or cleanup tasks as needed.
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Valid drivers license and clean driving record (CDL is a plus, but not required unless specifically noted).
    • Relevant heavy equipment certifications or training in excavation safety (OSHA 10 or 30 is a plus).
  • Physical Requirements
    • Able to sit, stand, crouch, and lift throughout the workday.
    • Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and on rough terrain.
  • Work Ethic
    • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
    • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
