Team MBP Assistant Head Coach

Job Role Duties & Responsibilities

• General Team MBP Support
  • Assist in training of new coaches in the program through real time feedback.
  • Work with other coaches to implement team values like growth mindset, continuous improvement, process-based training, and competition strategies.
  • Facilitate team debriefs with support coaches.
  • Be available to aid in running events with team involvements including, but not limited to, Boulderfest, Annual Block Party, and Global Climbing Day.
  • Coach semi-annual Divisional and National Training Camps represented by Team MBP.
  • Aid in running semi-annual team try-outs and organizing teams.
  • Attend team parent meetings to aid in answering questions and explaining both team structure and competitive information.
• Functional Support Around the Gym
  • Assist in big picture planning of team structures, set-up, spatial planning, mock competitions, and general team functionality.
  • Serve as a back-up point of contact for Junior Team and Progressives coaches. Aid in practice brainstorming or debriefs.
  • Act as a main point of contact within the gym for the Team Program when the Head Coach is taking PTO or other time off.
• Communication Assistance
  • Lead the secondary forms of communication for athletes and parents, including, but not limited to,
    • Instagram Postings
    • Monthly Newsletters
    • Parent/Team GroupMe channels.
  • Be available to answer emails or phone calls for the Head Coach during any PTO or other time off.
  • Act as a point of contact for Senior Team parents to direct questions regarding competitions, team scheduling, etc.
• Competitive Logistics
  • Travel with the team to Qualifying Events and Bouldering Championships to aid the Head Coach with isolation warm-ups and organizational planning.
  • Support athletes in competitive settings and help facilitate travel planning.
  • Complete First Aid and CPR training yearly to hold a Level-2 coaching status with USA Climbing.
  • Understand and stay up to date on the USAC rulebook.

Hours outside of coaching - 10-15 hours

Coaching & Administrative Rate - $20-25/hr DOE
